WHAT DOES HIGHER ORDER THINKING (HOT) MEAN?
Few weeks ago, at the beginning of the capacitation course, I was grateful told about HOT. Basically HOT is what any researcher about whatever topic you can imagine would do to solve a problem or to improve an outcome.
First of all, we have to notice that a researcher doesn’t need to memorize the facts which he is working with. It means that memorizing is not included in HOT. But it doesn’t mean we cannot use our knowledge to take first ideas.
Secondly, any researcher tries to work with facts to understand what is going on. It means he puts the facts together, simplify them, manipulate them, etc. His target is to find out any pattern to get the rules which are controlling the facts. If we use adequate word we will say comprehension and application.
Thirdly, if we want to improve any game the only thing that we have to do is to play it. This is metacognition. It means we have to think about our thinking. Any researcher knows he has to check his work out to ensure the truth of his results. If we use adequate word we will say analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
Finally, if we put the bold words in the correct order we will get the Bloom’s pyramid.
And so, if we want to teach our students to prepare them to the real world the best way to do that will be this. Perhaps our outcomes won't be students with deep knolowedge about almost everything but I'm sure they will be able to create new solutions for old problems.

IS CLIL RIDING THE EDUCATIONAL CHANGES

Albert Einstein told us: ”If you repeat the same experiments you will get the same outcomes”.

In this article I'm taking that idea to show that CLIL, perhaps, was not the best methodoly to teach we could apply but it fits better than others in the 21st century.

First of all, we all have noticed Internet has changed the world. The main reason for it is that almost everything is already uploaded on Internet. It means that any human being can beat Internet in the content field. So that, the futures generations will need skills to deal with it instead of trying to memorize contents.

Secondly, the men and women of the future will need to communicate each other all around the world. Even in different languages and cultures. Therefore, they will need to be open minded and tolerant to find out what they want in a fear way.

Thirdly, the teachers all have already noticed their students are not interested about memorizing contents. They want to be able to do concrete things. And so, it would be better to give them an answer as soon as possible.

Finally, from my point of view CLIL offers us many techniques very useful to deal with the new necessities in the teaching, coaching and trying world. Because, if we use CLIL we will push the students to improve their correct skills for the future world.

Article number one: The Best Teacher that I've Ever Had

THE BEST TEACHER THAT I’VE EVER HAD
The best teacher that I’ve ever had he was my Math teacher at the Primary school. I will always remember him solving the most difficult problems in the easiest way that it could do that.

I never could understand how he could solve something so hard so easy. For me, at that moment, he was the most intelligent man over the earth. Moreover, he never raised his voice neither lost control. In fact, he always kept clam and his students shut up when he got in the class.

Nowadays I am a Math teacher too and I try to teach Math in the same way. I mean, without losing control or raising my voice. I have to tell you it is easy to say and very hard to do.

In the other hand, I have taken many classes about psychology and Math teaching methods. But in the end, I have to get in a teens class and the only thing that it works is to keep clam and to take control. Obviously, if you want to do that you have to have a very wide knowledge about Math and teenager.

Finally, I think to teach is an amazing way to do for life. In fact, I am very proud to be a Math teacher because I can see my students grow up becoming men and women. But if I could earn a little bite more of money I would be a little bite more happy.
